Checking If a New Notebook Uses the Same Dot Pattern

You can check whether a new notebook has the same dot pattern as one you are already using.

Each notebook has a Status Label that identifies it to the smartpen. The smartpen figures out if a notebook with the same dot pattern is already in use.

1. When you open a new notebook, tap on its Status Label with your smartpen.

   The Status Label wraps across the front edge of a new notebook, holding it shut. The words Tap Here appear on the front and back covers.

2. Your smartpen screen shows whether you are using another notebook with the same dot pattern.

   You may need to archive an existing notebook before proceeding with the new notebook.

3. In some cases, your smartpen needs to be updated to use a new paper product. If you see an update message on your smartpen screen, update your smartpen software.
